Namie Town

An abandoned school building with a radiation meter in the playground inside the Fukushima exclusion zone, Namie, Fukushima, Japan. Wednesday March 9th 2016. The Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11th 2011 was followed by a massive tsunami that levelled much of the Tohoku coast in north east Japan, killing around 18,000 people and causing meltdowns and explosions at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station leading to the contamination and evacuation of a 20 kilometre exclusion zone around the plant.
