A large mikoshii or portable shrine is prepared on the first day of the three-day Sanja Matsuri, Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. Friday May 18th 2018. The Sanja matsuri, or festival, takes place over the third weekend of May in the streets around the famous Senso-ji Temple. It lis one of the biggest festivals in Japan and lasts for three days  (May 18th to 20th) with parades of large mikoshi carried around the streets by crowds of supporters
