The two-month long state of emergency declared by the Japanese government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is slated to end on May 25th Despite Japan appearing to have avoided the high infection and mortality rates of some countries. Areas in Tokyo and across the country have many businesses shuttered and closed and the streets are a lot quieter than usual.
