Yasukuni end of war celebrations


An old man in imperial navy uniform marches in front of the entrance gate to the controversial Yasukuni Shrine carying a large old style Japanese flag during the celebrations of the end of the Pacific War. This shrine houses the spirits of Japan's war dead, including 14 Class A war criminals,and is a source of tension for Japanese neighbors, especially China and Korea who suffered badly at the hands of the Japanese Imperial forces before and during World War 2.
