The Hodagaya Cemetery holds the remains of more than 1500 servicemen and women, from the Commonwealth but also from Holland and the United States, who died as prisoners of war or during the Allied occupation of Japan. Each year officials from the British and Commonwealth embassies, the British Legion and the British Chamber of Commerce honour the dead at a ceremony in this beautiful cemetery. The year 2018 marks the centenary of the end of the First World War in 1918.
