COVID 19 in Japan
An almost empty Hachiko Square in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Thursday May 7th 2020. The month-long state of emergency declared by the Japanese government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic was due to end on May 7th but was extended to May 31st despite Japan appearing to have avoided the high infection and mortality rates of some countries. Areas like Shibuya have many businesses shuttered and closed and the streets are a lot quieter than usual.
