A Japanese rubs the Arai Kannon statue at Toganji Temple, Sugamo, Tokyo, Japan Friday March 11th 2011. Sugamo is affectionately known as the old lady Harajuku, in reference to the Mecca for youth fashions in the South of Tokyo, and is a popular place for Tokyo's increasingly aged population. The Arai Kannon statue is a famous religious icon at Togan-ji temple in the heart of Sugamo, where people go to rub the statue with a white cloth in the hopes of curing sickness and ensuring a long, healthy life.
